UBDR Gold boasts FTP recovery, Tivoli Storage Manager Device support, Autoloader features and more.
BELLEVUE, WA -- October 19, 2004 UltraBac Software today announced the release of UltraBac Disaster Recovery (UBDR) Gold. UBDR Gold performs image based backup and disaster recovery of Microsoft® Windows servers and workstations, enabling a quick and simple recovery of an unbootable machine in minutes.
UBDR Gold represents the latest research and development in lightning fast image based backup and recovery technology that universally allows recovering any Windows based server or workstation after experiencing an unbootable event or disaster. The new features and functionality of UBDR Gold set a new industry standard for speed, ease-of-use and technical innovation.
Like UltraBac file-by-file backup software, UBDR Gold provides customers the ability to store image backups on literally every type of storage device: SAN, NAS, UNC path, local disk, TSM, FTP, local/remote tape devices and autoloaders. An image based recovery of a failed OS partition or hard drive is significantly faster than a traditional file-by-file recovery, with recovery speeds up to 3GB per minute on fast Gigabit network connections and local LTO2 tape. To recover a failed machine, a user needs only boot from the universal UBDR Gold CD and navigate the wizard with a few clicks of the mouse to initiate a restore of the latest partition or disk image. With smaller partitions, the recovery boot process can take longer than the image restore. Upon completion, it's back to business after removal of the CD and a final reboot. UBDR Gold is also available for machine environments that require a fully automated recovery process.
UBDR Gold differs significantly from UBDR Pro (the company's standard version of disaster recovery), by not only providing optional agents for TSM, FTP and autoloaders, but by giving users the ability to perform either image or file based backup and recovery operations while booted from the UBDR Gold CD. This means an administrator can boot a failed machine and safely backup data partitions to any available disk, tape, or network location before allowing repair technicians free reign to potentially make a bad situation worse.
UBDR Gold is the first bare metal recovery utility that has integrated FTP into disaster recovery. With an FTP recovery, an image can be restored from a LAN, WAN or the internet. UBDR Gold also includes support for remote tape devices, tape libraries and autoloaders.
"We've given system administrators more disaster recovery options than ever before with the new features in UBDR Gold," said Morgan Edwards, CEO and founder of UltraBac Software. "With the integration of TSM, FTP and autoloader support, along with both file-by-file and image backup and recovery, UBDR Gold is the fastest and most flexible disaster recovery solution we've offered to date. UBDR Gold has raised the bar for the competition."
The base UBDR Gold stand-alone version lists for US$995 and is designed to coexist with all file based backup solutions. The UBDR Gold integrated version relies on the backup engine in UltraBac's file-by-file backup solution, and lists for $895 USD. Add-on modules for TSM, FTP and autoloaders are available for an additional license fee.
